I work with clients to get past the feature request and understand the actual problem underneath it, then design a solution that fits within what our platform can realistically do. That usually means weighing tradeoffs across a few possible approaches and building the case for one in a PRD that stakeholders sign off on before anything gets built. Great opportunity to travel and have expenses covered.
I led design of the date-calculation engine at the core of the IRS’ new tax withholding estimator, and contributed extensions to the fact graph, the open-source Scala DSL it’s built on. This was a very interesting company to have worked for, and a very unlucky time to have joined.
I worked on Direct File, the IRS’ free tax filing tool, translating tax policy into logic through the fact graph DSL and did backend work in Java that transformed/generated this data for the e-file API. I got to work with a fantastic team and I’m forever thankful for the experience I had there, along with all the wonderful people in the U.S. Digital Corps.
I tracked down the root cause of reported bugs and incidents across Echo’s application portfolio and kept a handful of internal legacy systems running.
I interned on the warehouse team and developed label functionality for our warehouse app. Then joined full-time on the trucking team to work on routing algorithms and data accessibility, along with creating an internal UI component library for mobile development prior to being laid off due to executive infighting. It was a fun time to be on Blind.
